We’re building a coalition of unions and community groups to run local, independent candidates in Los Angeles.

DEMOCRATS WOULD RATHER LOSE ELECTIONS THAN LOSE CORPORATE DONORS. An actual opposition party would be calling for strikes and organizing resistance.  An actual democratic party would be fighting to tax billionaires and fund our social services.

WE'RE BUILDING LOCAL POWER. We’re running candidates for local elections, so that we can talk to our neighbors and build networks - not just 'get out the vote.' We're building a coalition of community groups and unions to which our candidates will be accountable.

WE DO NOT RUN SPOILER CANDIDATES. We're fighting the oligarchs and trying to build a better America -- we need an alternative to Democrats, but no one wins when Republicans come to power.

We're currently running two candidates for Neighborhood Council in Atwater Village, Los Angeles.

Gilbert Berriozabal

Anna Magnuson

UPCOMING EVENTS

Design Competition!

We'll be making T-shirts, bumper stickers, and smaller stickers. We need designs for each of those, so we're holding a design competition! We'll print the top one or two of each category. Please submit your designs by May 2nd.

Feel the Bern SFV Fundraiser

Feel the Bern SFV has broken with the democratic party! They're having a fundraiser April 19th at 5:30 pm in West Hills.

April 19th Day of Action

50501 is hosting another day of action April 19th. While the 50501 events are huge and definitely much much better than doing nothing, we wish they had clear demands and an escalation/organization plan. These kinds of pop up protest groups appear because of the complete void of leadership from the democratic party. There isn't a specific Los Angeles event for this day of action yet, but we'll update if one emerges.

Sign up to come with us:

May Day Rallies

May 1st @ 9 am, starting from Olympic and Figueroa

AND

May 1st @ 4:30 pm at MacArthur Park

Sign up to come with us to either protest:

Sign-Making Party

Join us May 4th @ 3pm at Elysian Park Picnic Site #1A to learn about LCIP and make banners and signs for upcoming events.

Fight for Schools Rallies and Marches

On May 17th, education unions across the state are calling for a day of action to counter Trump's threats to schools. The Trump administration is trying to force school districts to remove all DEI programs, and may remove federal funds for programs like special education and support for English language learners. Federal funding accounts for 7% of LAUSD's budget.

The organizers of this event have not yet picked an exact time/place, but we will update when they do.

Symptom: 90 million Americans did not choose a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Solution: We — political, trade union, and community activists from different political backgrounds — have decided to constitute ourselves as the Los Angeles Labor and Community for an Independent Party (LCIP). Join Us.
